Happy New Year everyone! We are embarking on a new year for FPRA and in August the new board members for the Space Coast FPRA chapter were inducted by State FPRA President, Gordon Paulus, APR, CPRC. I am excited to work with this great group of board members this year as we make the magic happen for each and every one of our chapter members.
A quick introduction of myself, if we haven’t had the opportunity to meet. I work for the City of Cocoa as the Assistant to the City Manager and Public Relations Specialist. My responsibilities for the City include marketing, public relations, emergency communications, Leisure Services and special projects. I have been a member of FPRA for about 4 years now and love the opportunities and networking that I get from being a part of this association.
Thanks to the fantastic leadership from our previous President’s and Boards, we are in great shape to be able to give back to our members this year. We are doing that by offering more scholarship opportunities and dynamic programming. We have already started by offering a new member scholarship. We will also have State Conference scholarship opportunities once again this year and we are offering a current member scholarship opportunity for next year to those members that attend programming events throughout the year.
We have an amazing speaker set for our November program, Tim Walsh, who will be speaking about ways to get creative with his Creativity Hacks presentation that he gave at the State Conference this year. This event is being generously sponsored by Christian Care Ministries. Thanks to sponsorships like this that help cover the costs for our monthly events, we are able to continue to offer great opportunities for our members. The October member mixer will be a free event, including free headshots for members that renew their membership before the October 23rd event, thanks to a generous sponsorship from Launch Federal Credit Union. Health First, Blue Water Creative Group, Three21 Digital Creative Agency, Brevard Public Schools, Proforma Arrow Solutions, Coastal Life Properties, Viera Company and the King Center for the Performing Arts were all sponsors for our PR Professional of the Year event just a few weeks ago and the reason why we had such a successful event. We have a number of great sponsorship opportunities available for the entire year. You can sponsor one of our monthly programs, which gives you the opportunity to speak in front of attendees. Reach out to Sara Almond or Autumn Shrum for more information on how you can get some great exposure for your organization.
It is also that time of year to start renewing your FPRA membership. As you can see from what I have stated above, now is a great time to be a member of the Space Coast chapter of FPRA. It’s the year of our members. Take advantage of all of the opportunities that FPRA can provide and renew your membership today. Don’t forget that all members that renew their membership by the October 23rd Member Mixer at Intracoastal Brewery, will receive a FREE headshot from Madeline Garret Photography. Dayna, owner of Madeline Garret Photography, provided headshots for our members last year at our October event and they came out fantastic. You don’t want to miss this opportunity.
Thanks for your continued support of the Space Coast FPRA and if we haven’t had the opportunity to meet, I hope to see you at a future event!
