I can’t believe we are almost through the year. We are closing in on our last quarter and have some really exciting things going on for the rest of this membership year. I am really excited about our June professional development program. The Communications Team at United Launch Alliance is giving us an exclusive behind the scenes tour of a launch pad and discussing what is takes to pull off a successful rocket launch. Spaces are limited for this program, so register today to guarantee your spot.

We will be sending out information soon about our July event at the Supply Zone in Cocoa. At this event we will be assisting the Brevard Schools Foundation in organizing their free school supply zone for Brevard County Teachers. We will also be announcing the recipients of the 2019 PR Professional and Communicator of the Year awards at this event and celebrating them at our Awards event in September. Now is the time to get your nominations in for these prestigious awards. These are our chapter’s highest honors.

Nominations for PR Professional of the Year are for a member that has shown excellence in the PR profession and who regularly contributes their time to the success of our chapter. Nominations for Communicator of the Year are for a member of our community who has exhibited outstanding communications efforts during this past year (this does not have to be a member of our chapter). We have a number of talented professionals in this community and I hope you will take the time to nominate who you think best exhibits the qualifications for these awards.

In August, many of us will be traveling to Tampa to attend the Florida Public Relations Association Conference. This annual conference, held August 4-7, 2019, is not only an opportunity to network with PR professionals from around the State but also an opportunity to get unique professional development experiences. Save the date as we will be holding a Chapter Dinner on Monday, August 5, 2019 and would love for all of our members in attendance to join us. More information will be sent out soon about that. And congratulations once again to our two conference scholarship recipients, Sarah Hansen and Nina Salvaggio.

This year I had the opportunity to participate in Leadership FPRA. This dynamic program provides members the tools they need to become stronger leaders in their organizations, in their communities, and in FPRA. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experiences so far with this program and would highly recommend all of our members taking the opportunity to join this program. This program is for leaders at all levels. I promise, you will learn so much. Space Coast FPRA is offering one scholarship for programming to one of our members. Applications are due by May 31st, so get those applications in now. Applications for the program are due to State by June 17, 2019.

As we are closing out the year, I sit back and reflect on all of the great opportunities FPRA offers members. From accreditation opportunities, to networking and leadership development, this association has helped me so much in my career and I am so thankful I made the decision to join almost six years ago. I hope you have found the benefits of your membership as well. Our chapter board has worked so hard this year to make sure we gave back to our members and show you the value of your membership.

As always, if you ever have any questions, you can always reach out to me at ssenger@cocoafl.org or call me at (321) 482-4010. Thanks everyone and I hope to see you soon at one of our events or at conference in August!
