Hello Space Coast Members!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and enjoyed the time with friends and family. You may have seen some communication recently about Giving Tuesday. Even though that has passed, it’s never too late to donate to the Florida Public Relations Education Foundation (FPREF), and support their efforts to provide students and  members with scholarships, professional development, and more.

Many of us are decorated for the holiday season and enjoying the familiar lights and music. I always look forward to the holidays, because it’s when I can spend the most time with the people I love. The theme for this year set in place by State President Ryan Gerds, APR, CPRC, is “FPRA Balance,” and it’s certainly a topic that I’m passionate about. How can we juggle the time between work, volunteering, family and the one that usually comes last- “me time.” I encourage everyone to explore that topic this holiday season, and take time to reflect on what matters most and how you can achieve balance in your own life.

On that note, I’d like to say a huge thank you to our members, and specifically the 2017/18 board of directors and VP of Membership, Sara Almond, for bringing the renewal season to a close. We were third in the state for renewals, and we couldn’t do it without all of you! I am also thrilled to welcome several new members to the chapter, and look forward to continual growth.

Finally, as we move into 2018, the annual Image Awards approaches. Start working on your entries now to get a head start before the March 14 deadline. If you’re unsure whether or not your project qualifies, then join us at our Image Awards workshop in January! We’ll have several instructors there to provide small group guidance on the process and divisions, as well as share tips for success!

I wish you all the best this season, and hope to see you at our upcoming events!

Best,

Sarah Hansen

Space Coast FPRA President
