If you had asked me a year ago about Space Coast FPRA’s plans for 2020-2021, my answer would have been entirely different than what it is today. Normally at this time of year, event planning is underway for our PR Professional of the Year banquet and fall professional development programs. Securing venues, speakers and finalizing hors d’oeuvre menus all seem like distant memories. And while the pandemic has prevented us from getting together in person, it will not stop us from doing what we set out to do every year: help PR pros do their jobs better.

The reality is everything looks different now. Instead of networking events held at local restaurants and bars, we’ve been jumping on Zoom calls in our PJs to chat with colleagues over virtual happy hour. Instead of presenting our guest speakers with FPRA-branded gifts in person, we’ve been making donations in their names to local not-for-profits (this, I’m excited to say, is a practice we will continue at future events!). And instead of dressing to the nines for FPRA’s Golden Image Awards gala held at annual conference, we tuned into the state association’s Facebook Live from the comfort of our homes to celebrate our big wins.

It’s been a summer full of change. And as we continue to navigate the impact of COVID-19, we’re moving full speed ahead to serve our members and the Space Coast community. And it all started last night with the virtual installation of our 2020-2021 board of directors!

October is right around the corner, and that means it’s time to renew your FPRA membership! The deadline for renewals is technically October 31, but you’ll definitely want to act sooner. Are you ready for your close-up? If you renew or join by Oct. 12, you can sign up to receive a free professional headshot by Dayna Healy of Madeleine Garrett Photography! This year, you’ll have the option of getting your photo taken at one of two iconic outdoor locations in Brevard County. Stay tuned and check your email for more information coming soon!

As we look toward the coming year, I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has supported Space Coast FPRA over the past several months, especially our members and board of directors. We’re all in this together, and I can’t wait to share more of our plans with you soon. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn for the latest updates, and feel free to email me directly for more information about Space Coast FPRA. I hope to connect with you soon.

Warmly,
Autumn
